About the Owners
Glynn Shannan
Glynn has honed his skills as a carpenter and builder for over 40 years.
He is knowledgeable in all aspects of the construction industry, and has built many fine homes from contemporary to those of handcrafted log and timber frame.
Since moving from Ontario to Victoria, Glynn has enjoyed renovating homes. Whether working on larger jobs or a simple deck, you can be assured of his diligence and willingness to listen to your needs.
Brian Bergstrom
Born and raised in Victoria, except for a boyhood vacation to England that lasted 4 years, Brian initially chose a career in the forest industry after graduating from UBC in 1983. Prompted by an urge to do more than manage forest harvesting and utilize the end products of our forests through building, he re-directed his focus to the residential renovation business in his home town. His grandfather, whom Brian admired and looked up to, was also a builder and finishing carpenter. He built the family home in Cordova Bay in 1943, now designated a heritage house but sadly no longer owned by the family.
Now, as a partner and general contractor in Shanberg Construction, Brian has the opportunity to transform peoples’ homes and their lives.
As Brian notes, “This reflects what I am about. Being a part of improving the quality of someone’s life by building their dream with my hands”.
Brian takes great pride in improving client homes. The motto of the company is “Better Homes, Better Lives!” To be a part of making someone’s life better is much more than construction alone.
Renovations of excellence means high caliber in both workmanship and ethical behaviour. His grandfather would tolerate nothing less. He set Brian’s standards a long time ago.
